Certain things remind me that I am getting older. The generation gap between myself and the kids of today is glaringly obvious, despite the fact that I am only in my early thirties. I think one of the signs that I am ageing is the fact that in most cases I would rather watch a classic from the seventies, eighties or nineties than a new music video. When I watch a new music video I often feel bored and think that they just don’t make them the way they once used to. To me the average new music video seems bland, trite and prescribed. It seems that there aren’t enough new music videos that offer something fresh or original. Of course, there are always exceptions. There are still quite a few new music videos by talented young artists, but you have to look for them. For example, I like the new music video shown in the above YouTube clip. This new music video shows gifted British newcomer Duffy singing her song Warwick Avenue live on the Jules Holland show. At first I thought Duffy was just another Amy Winehouse 'wannabe,' but her sound is definitely growing on me.
